You are not responsible for making
sure this goes well.
Most people arrive to photo sessions feeling a bit on edge.
Kids are half-listening.
You're worried about their behaviour.
Everyone’s a little aware of being watched, and wondering if it all looks pretty enough.
That's normal.
I work with it.
The images are beautiful — and more importantly, they're meaningful.

When I look back at photos from my own childhood, the posed ones feel dated.
(and they look goofy)
No outfit, pose, or setting really stands the test of time — no matter how right it feels in the moment.
The everyday ones don’t age.
They still make sense.
They still feel like us.

Hey! I’m Katherine.
I'm most comfortable stepping back and observing what’s actually happening. Noticing important and meaningful moments, instead of trying to create them.
I like to watch for what happens when no one is being prompted or directed.
And I love the chance I get to create images that show you what your family looks like from a new perspective.
And this isn't just how I work,
it's also how I photograph my own family's memories.

Even when I step in front of my own camera, I set it up — and then (do my best to) forget it’s there.
And let memories and moments happen on their own.

This work is a good fit for families who don’t need a perfectly managed hour.
For people who care more about how the experience felt, than whether everyone was looking.
For parents who know their kids won’t sit still — and don’t want to force them to.
If you’re hoping for a fully styled, tightly directed session, there are photographers who do that really well.
But I work a bit differently.

I'll photograph your family the way I'd photograph my own.
To get the kind of images that I love looking back on.
Not polished. Not staged beyond recognition.
Just honest enough to feel familiar now —
and steady enough to make sense years from now.
If that’s what you’re looking for, I’d love to work together.

Let's document your memories

If you think I'm the one who can help you tell your story,
or you just have more questions for me
